Role description
Health Innovation East has an exciting opportunity for an AWS Cloud Engineer to join our rapidly expanding Health Informatics team.
Salary: £59,675 – £69,164
Hours of work: 37.5hrs/week (full time)
Terms: 12-month fixed term
Deadline: 11:59pm Sunday 31 May 2026
Date of interview: two stage process – Tuesday 9 June and Friday 19 June
The Health Informatics team has specialist skills in delivering complex, technical programmes of work that include providing secure environments for storing and accessing health and other sensitive data to support health and care delivery, research, and innovation.
We are looking for someone who has specialist skills in implementing DevOps throughout the development lifecycle of projects. This will include furthering automation through CI/CD pipelines, serverless functions and IaC tooling, extending user facing functionality, improving operational processes and identifying alternate approaches to data flow within the platform. The post bolder will act as both a subject matter expert and hands-on engineer.
A significant portion of this role will be supporting the Eastern England Secure Data Environment (SDE) – part of an interoperable NHS Research Secure Data Environment network, giving approved researchers secure access to de-identified NHS healthcare data, for approved projects. The SDE utilises AWS Research and Engineering Studio as the user facing environment.
This is a chance to join a fast growing, dynamic company. We believe that great ideas only make a difference for our health when they are put into practice. Whether we’re working with global companies, pioneering start-ups, universities or health providers we help the best innovations in health and care reach the people, places and problems where they deliver most benefit. As the region’s experts in health innovation implementation our team includes healthcare professionals, specialist technologists and commercial advisors; our collective skill set is at the forefront of the advances being made across health and care.
This post is based in our Cambridge office, with opportunities for hybrid working. Flexible working hours compatible with the role can be considered (including the possibility of working part time). There will be a requirement to attend some in-person meetings both within the Eastern region and nationally.
