Senior AWS DevOps Engineer – 6-Month Contract (Remote)
Location: Remote
Contract Length: 6 Months
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
Day Rate: £450 to £500/ a day Umbrella
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to help design, optimize, and maintain a modern cloud infrastructure that powers a suite of internal tools, client-facing systems, and online learning platforms.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring reliability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency across all AWS environments, while working closely with developers to streamline deployments, automate workflows, and continuously improve our DevOps processes.
This is a hands-on, AWS-focused contract role for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment where infrastructure and development go hand in hand.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, document, and deliver an AWS infrastructure strategy emphasizing reliability, resilience, and security.
• Collaborate with developers to establish application performance benchmarks and improve delivery efficiency.
• Conduct regular infrastructure and security assessments, identifying and addressing vulnerabilities.
• Drive automation initiatives to improve developer experience and reduce operational overhead.
• Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments using Terraform and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
• Plan and execute disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BCP) testing.
Required Technical Skills
• 10+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services (VPC, EC2, ECS, EKS, EFS, S3, Workspaces, Security Groups, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, IAM, etc.).
• Strong experience with containerization (Docker or similar).
• Proficiency in scripting/automation using Python or Bash.
• Expertise in CI/CD pipeline development (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar).
• Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible preferred).
• Strong knowledge of Aurora/RDS MySQL, including replication and performance tuning.
• Experience with monitoring and logging platforms (Datadog, Sumo Logic, CloudWatch).
• Deep understanding of security best practices — hardening, 2FA, secure data handling.
• Familiarity with networking concepts (routing, gateways, DNS, etc.).
Success Metrics
• Infrastructure uptime and reliability.
• Backup coverage and recovery performance.
• Efficiency of CI/CD processes.
• Infrastructure cost optimization and stability.
• Able to justify and articulate technical decisions.
• Passionate about continuous improvement and automation.
If you’re an AWS DevOps Engineer who enjoys automating, optimizing, and scaling cloud infrastructure, this is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact in a forward-thinking tech environment.
👉 Apply today to join a collaborative engineering culture where your cloud expertise will drive meaningful results.
