Role description
Santcore is looking for a resource to help client in the early stages of a major initiative to migrate from our legacy LMS (Saba Cornerstone → Docebo) to a new platform. We are hiring a Application Engineer who will lead technical efforts across integrations, backend development, automation testing, and future AI-driven enhancements.
The ideal candidate is a Java + AWS engineer first, with AI agent engineering as a top priority "plus", and LMS experience as a nice-to-have. Python scripting will be increasingly important as AI and automation capabilities expand.
You will join a small team (1 developer, 1 analyst, 1 product manager) and play a key leadership role as the platform evolves.
Top Priorities (in order of importance)
• AI Engineering (Preferred Over LMS Experience)
This is not a data scientist role. We are looking specifically for:
• Experience building AI agents, not statistical modeling
• Hands-on implementation using agent frameworks or orchestration layers
• Python scripting for automation, workflows, and agent behavior
• Ability to leverage new LMS capabilities to build AI-driven features in later phases
• Core Backend Engineering
• Strong Java development (8–12+ years ideal)
• Solid AWS engineering (Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, S3, etc.)
• REST API development and systems integration
• Ownership of end-to-end technical design and delivery
• Automation Testing / SDLC 2.0
As part of the org-wide shift to SDLC 2.0, this role must:
• Contribute to automation test creation
• Execute and enhance existing automated test suites
• Support testing for integrations and platform changes
• Ensure high-quality code delivery across all environments
• LMS Experience (Nice-to-Have)
Priority Is Lower Than AI. Useful But Not Mandatory
• Experience with Saba / Cornerstone, Workday integrations, configuration-based LMS workflows
• Understanding of user journeys, content models, and learning platform architecture
Key Responsibilities
• Lead backend development for LMS migration and ongoing enhancements
• Build and maintain integrations (especially Workday)
• Develop AI agents in later project phases
• Create Python-based automation scripts and workflow tooling
• Support automation testing under SDLC 2.0
• Work with configuration-driven LMS features
• Mentor junior team members and guide technical decisions
• Adapt to evolving requirements as the platform matures
Required Skills
• Strong Java engineering background
• Hands-on AWS experience
• Python scripting (for AI + automation)
• Experience integrating enterprise systems
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to operate independently in a small team
Preferred Skills
• Experience with AI agent frameworks
• Prior work with LMS platforms (Saba / Cornerstone / Workday Learning)
• Configuration experience within learning systems
• Workday integration experience
• Exposure to modernization or migration projects
