AWS Solution Architect (Contract)
Location: London – Office Based
Contract Duration: 6 months
Day Rate: £467.50 (Inside IR35)
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced AWS Solution Architect to join our technical team on a 6-month contract. The role involves transforming traditional banking infrastructure and services by leveraging the scalability, security, and performance of AWS cloud solutions. You will design, implement, and optimise cloud-based architectures, ensuring compliance with banking standards and supporting high-performance data and application services.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance AWS cloud infrastructure in line with banking standards.
• Re-envision the current data warehouse estate into a data products/marketplace model leveraging AWS/Snowflake.
• Review and enhance existing AWS infrastructure components to improve performance and efficiency.
• Design and implement ETL pipelines using AWS EMR (Elastic MapReduce) for efficient data processing.
• Integrate Tableau with AWS services for seamless reporting and data visualisation.
• Design and deploy containerised UI applications (frontend & backend) using microservices architecture on Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service).
• Apply infrastructure-as-code principles using Terraform, Ansible, and implement CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins.
• Utilise scripting tools such as Python/Bash and container orchestration with Helm charts, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Implement and monitor cloud security best practices across AWS environments.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and architecture recommendations to the development team throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Skills & Experience
• Extensive knowledge of AWS services, including Lambda, EKS, EMR, and related cloud components.
• Experience in ETL design and implementation and Tableau integration with AWS services.
• Familiarity with Avaloq and private banking systems preferred.
• Strong expertise in infrastructure-as-code, scripting (Python/Bash), Docker, Kubernetes, Helm charts.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability to design secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud architectures.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Desirable Skills
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
• Experience in financial reporting systems or data-intensive applications.
• Knowledge of Angular and Node.js for frontend and backend development.
• Previous experience in the banking domain.
