Azure Cloud Engineer

We are looking for a Azure Cloud Engineer who is experienced in designing, implementing and managing Azure environments. The ideal candidate is someone with a development background who will be a key component in cloud initiatives, ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of Azure cloud environments. This is a remote position with our exclusive client. Quarterly travel to the client site for onsite meetings. A person who resides in Pacific time zone is preferred. Six-month contract position with option to convert to full-time hire. Responsibilities: • Help design, implement, and manage Azure environments, including VMs, ASPs, Network Security Groups (NSGs), ExpressRoute, containers, Azure SQL, Azure Firewall, Application Gateways, Storage Accounts, VPN/ER Gateways, Private Endpoints, Entra (cloud-only & hybrid), and resilient network configurations. • Implement, manage, and optimize On Prem transition and Azure network solutions, such as Virtual Networks (VNets) • Continue to support WiFi and standardization efforts, network at sites: Meraki • Keep existing systems running, leverage/partner with external SMEs as needed for specific tech: VMWare, Horizon VDI, Veeam/Pure Storage, Cisco • Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) across hybrid cloud environments. • Ensure connectivity and security between Azure and on-premises networks using: VPN Gateway and Azure Bastion. • Maintain and update documentation for network designs, configurations, and policies. • Continuously monitor and optimize cloud network performance, implementing best practices for high availability and fault tolerance. • Develop and enforce security measures, such as Azure DDoS Protection and Private endpoint configurations. • Generate and analyze network reports to identify performance issues, discrepancies, or improvement opportunities. • Stay updated on new Azure networking features and technologies, driving innovation within the team. • Perform migrations and communicate with client stakeholders during requirement-gathering meetings. • Assist SE with issue resolution as needed. Qualifications: • 6 years of experience in cloud networking with a focus on Microsoft Azure. • Experience in Azure Single tenant, syncing AD w/Entra, Fiber, Resource Groups, Cato virtual, Sockets and Express Route etc). • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. • Understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and network troubleshooting tools.
