Responsibilities
Kforce has a client that is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer - Data Services + Databricks in Charlotte, NC. Summary: We are seeking a skilled and proactive Azure Cloud Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting Azure-based data services, ensuring adherence to database and storage best practices, and delivering robust operational support for cloud infrastructure and data platforms. Key Responsibilities:
β’ Design, deploy, and manage Azure data services including Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics
β’ Optimize data storage, access, and performance across distributed systems
β’ Experience of integrating Azure data services with Azure Databricks
β’ Collaborate with data engineering and application teams to ensure optimal data ingestion, transformation, and storage strategies
Database Best Practices
β’ Define and enforce standards for database design, indexing, partitioning, and query optimization
β’ Implement backup, recovery, and high availability strategies
β’ Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy policies
Operational Support
β’ Monitor and troubleshoot Azure infrastructure and data services using tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights
β’ Automate routine tasks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and ARM templates
β’ Maintain clear documentation of architecture, configurations, and operational procedures
Requirements
β’ 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with at least 4 years focused on Microsoft Azure
β’ Strong expertise in Azure data services (e.g., Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Data Factory)
β’ Experience with Azure Databricks Platform is preferred
β’ Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Python) and automation tools (Terraform, Azure CLI)
β’ Solid understanding of database administration, performance tuning, and security
β’ Advanced proficiency in Terraform, Python, and PowerShell/Bash
β’ Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) and Agile methodologies
β’ Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting best practices in cloud environments
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
