Who We Are
AND Digital are a tech company focused on accelerating digital delivery and dedicated to closing the digital skills gap. We've been helping organisations build better digital products and stronger digital teams since 2014.
We believe our work should always make a remarkable impact for our clients. We do this through our regional offices (or ‘Clubs') building strong relationships with our partners, so that they are always prioritised by a team within close proximity.
This unique model has driven success for our clients and ourselves, evidenced by our remarkable organic growth since 2014. Today we number more than 1,300 people with Clubs all over the UK, Europe and the USA with plans for global expansion in the next couple of years.
Join us - and help us fulfil our mission to close the world's digital skills gap.
To strengthen AND's position as a leader in cloud engineering, we are seeking an Principal Engineer (hands-on Architect) to lead client engagements and expand our engineering capability. This pivotal role requires a balance of leading on client, driving the engineering practice proposition in the local market, and deepening our partnerships through genuine technical expertise. You will work closely with AND's global engineering practice team and local leadership to deliver exceptional outcomes for our clients.
Your Leadership & Influence
• Technology Engineering Leadership: You have a proven track record of leading complex cloud-native software engineering engagements. You excel at navigating enterprise-scale problem-solving, turning technical challenges into opportunities for our clients.
• Stakeholder Artistry: You are a master of client-facing delivery. You can translate complex architectures into tangible business value, managing multi-vendor environments with a focus on long-term partnership.
• Hands-on Mindset: You are comfortable leading engagements from the front, whether embedded directly in a customer team or guiding AND engineering teams. You bring a bias for technical delivery and are ready to roll up your sleeves when it matters, helping teams succeed.
Your Strategic Mindset
• Quality Advocate: You take personal pride in the integrity of your work. You champion quality assurance, security, and performance as a mindset - ensuring the solutions we build for clients are robust, reliable, and respected.
• Industry Stewardship: You are a lifelong learner who keeps a pulse on industry standards, emerging software engineering patterns, platforms, and best practices.
• Partnership Focus: You champion relationships with technology partners, whether established or new, working collaboratively to accelerate delivery and strengthen AND's competencies with our partners.
• Practice Contribution: You use your expert knowledge to drive contributions to AND's central repository of accelerators and reusable assets. Sharing engineering best practices, coordinating lightning talks and gamedays to help upskill colleagues. Bringing the best of AND's engineering practice to the local club, region and clients.
Your Technical Fluency
You lead by example. While your primary focus is client delivery, you maintain the technical depth required to guide engagements end-to-end from initial architecture through to production and operational run:
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Mastery: You have a deep architectural understanding of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 ecosystem, with a specific focus on integrating Power Platform and Finance & Operations or CE into complex enterprise landscapes. You are adept at extending Dynamics functionality through custom Azure-hosted services and implementing robust integration patterns via Azure Service Bus or Logic Apps.
• CMS and Digital Experience Platforms: You bring extensive experience in architecting and implementing modern Content Management Systems (CMS), particularly within "headless" or decoupled environments. Whether working with enterprise platforms or lightweight API-first solutions, you can guide clients through the complexities of content modeling, multi-channel distribution, and the seamless integration of CMS data with front-end frameworks and downstream business logic.
• Azure Experience: You possess in-depth expertise across the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, adopting cloud-native approaches like serverless and event-driven architectures, and managing diverse Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) workloads. Your approach is strongly guided by the Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and the Well-Architected Framework (WAF).
• DevOps Practices: You are fluent in CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and container orchestration, with hands-on experience across a broad technology range.
• Security & Governance: You understand Zero Trust architecture principles and have practical experience with compliance, FinOps, observability, BCDR, monitoring, logging, and SIEM.
• Architecture Design: You produce clear, considered architectural documentation, HLDs, LLDs, ADRs, and can lead solutions workshops, articulating complex ideas confidently to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Certifications: Hold, or be willing to achieve, relevant solutions-focussed certifications (Dynamics qualified, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or similar).
Equal Opportunities Statement
We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates. We actively encourage applications from women, ethnic minorities, and individuals with disabilities. We consider all flexible working arrangements, subject to the requirements of the role. Where reasonable adjustments are needed, we will strive to make changes to accommodate them.
