Job Title: Azure Data Engineer
Contract-to-Hire β 6-month contract to hire role
Location: Scottsdale, AZ
Hybrid Role β 3 days on-site, 2 days work from home
Hours β Monday β Friday
Rate - $50-$60 an hour depending on experience
Work Authorization - US Citizen or Permanent Resident
What your day-to-day will look like?
β’ Design, build, migrate, and optimize cloud-based data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric and Azure, including transitioning on-prem SQL Server and SSIS workloads into scalable Fabric architectures with medallion (bronze/silver) layering.
β’ Develop and maintain robust data integration workflows across diverse platforms (Salesforce, Fivetran, Alteryx, Azure Data Factory, Fabric Pipelines), ensuring reliable ingestion into enterprise data warehouses and lakehouses.
β’ Author advanced SQL solutions (stored procedures, complex queries, views) while performing data validation, cleansing, performance tuning, and cloud capacity optimization.
β’ Implement and enforce data governance, security, and compliance best practices, including RBAC, CI/CD within Fabric, and adherence to PII, FERPA, and PCI-DSS requirements.
β’ Monitor and support production pipelines and cloud workloads, respond to incidents, document architecture and processes, and collaborate within agile teams to deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions across multiple concurrent initiatives.
Whatβs Required? / Technical Skills
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Information Technology or related field, with 5+ years of progressive IT experience delivering enterprise technology and data solutions.
β’ Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Microsoft Azure, including cloud-based data engineering and platform implementation.
β’ Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop integrated technical strategies that align with diverse stakeholder and business needs.
β’ Azure Fundamentals certification (or willingness to obtain), with preferred experience integrating Salesforce platforms (CRM, Marketing Cloud, Commerce Cloud) and data ingestion tools such as Fivetran.
