Contract Azure Data Engineer – Outside IR35 Location: Remote Duration: 3 Months Start Date: ASAP Rate: £450 / day Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Data Engineer (Contract) to join our data team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and architectures on the Microsoft Azure platform. This role requires deep knowledge of Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Power BI, Azure Data Factory, and related services. You will work closely with data analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to ensure scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics • Manage and optimize Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2) for storing structured and unstructured data • Build and optimize ETL/ELT processes for ingesting data from various sources (SQL, APIs, files, etc.) • Develop and publish dashboards and reports in Power BI • Implement data governance, security, and compliance best practices across Azure data services • Collaborate with data architects and BI teams to define data models and structures • Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues across Azure data solutions • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code using Python, SQL, or other relevant languages Required Skills & Qualifications: • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, with at least 2+ years working in Azure cloud environments • Expertise in Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Power BI • Strong SQL skills and experience with data modeling and warehousing concepts • Experience with data pipeline orchestration, scheduling, and monitoring • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Scala • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in Azure • Experience with Azure DevOps, Databricks, or Azure Functions is a plus • Solid understanding of data governance, privacy, and security best practices
