Role description
Position Title: Azure Data Engineer
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid β 2 to 3 days onsite per week)

Position Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Azure Data Engineer for a long-term hybrid contract role based in New York, NY.
In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize end-to-end data solutions using Microsoft Azure cloud services, enabling secure, scalable, and high-performance data environments to support analytics, business intelligence, and reporting initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Power BI, and SQL, as well as a strong foundation in Python and data governance practices. Key Responsibilities:
β’ Design, implement, and maintain modern data architectures on the Azure cloud platform.
β’ Develop and manage ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
β’ Ensure data quality, accuracy, and security across all data processes.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support analytics, reporting, and BI initiatives.
β’ Implement and enforce data governance, including data lineage, cataloging, and compliance.
β’ Create and optimize stored procedures, SQL queries, and scripts to streamline data workflows.
β’ Support and manage Power BI Report Server for data visualization and insights.
β’ Apply security best practices in Azure, including IAM, encryption, and secure data transfer.
Required Skills/Education:
β’ 3+ years of experience as an Azure Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused cloud role.
β’ Proven experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Data Lake, and Power BI.
β’ Strong proficiency in SQL (including stored procedure creation) and Python.
β’ Working knowledge of Azure SQL Database, Synapse Analytics, COSMOS DB, or related services.
β’ Hands-on understanding of Azure security protocolsβidentity management, encryption, and network security.
β’ Experience in data governance frameworks, including data privacy and compliance.
β’ Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate certification required.
β’ Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Security Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable.
β’ .NET / C# experience is a plus.
