Role description
Data Engineer (Azure) – Contract – Hybrid (2 Days/Week)
Location: Consultancy Environment (Hybrid Working)

Duration: 6 months
Day Rate: £400–£500 per day
We are working with a growing consultancy seeking an experienced Data Engineer to deliver across multiple client engagements within the Azure ecosystem.
This is a hybrid role (2 days per week onsite), offering the opportunity to work on modern data platforms and cloud-based solutions in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
The Role
As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines and platforms within Azure, supporting data-driven decision-making for a range of clients.
You will work closely with stakeholders to deliver robust, high-quality data solutions aligned to business needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and build scalable data pipelines using Azure technologies
• Develop and maintain data platforms and architectures
• Work with structured and unstructured data across multiple sources
• Implement ETL/ELT processes and optimise data workflows
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements and solutions
• Ensure best practices in data governance, quality, and security
Skills & Experience
• Strong experience as a Data Engineer within Azure environments
• Proven consultancy or client-facing delivery experience
• Hands-on experience with:
• Azure Data Factory
• Azure Synapse Analytics
• Databricks
• SQL and Python
• Experience building and optimising data pipelines and transformations
• Good understanding of data modelling and performance tuning
• Strong stakeholder communication skills
Desirable
• Azure certifications
• Experience working across multiple industries
• Exposure to DevOps / CI-CD within data environments
