Role description
Azure Data Engineer – SC Cleared Contract – Inside IR35 6 Months (Likely Extension) We’re looking for a senior Azure Data Engineer with active SC Clearance to join a high-impact data programme. This role is strictly for hands-on engineers who can design, build, and deliver—no oversight-only profiles. Key Responsibilities • Build and optimise Azure Synapse solutions using: • Notebooks • Pipelines (including configuration-driven frameworks) • Design and implement scalable ETL frameworks • Develop automated, repeatable data pipelines • Work closely with engineering teams to deliver production-grade data solutions • Clearly articulate and own what you’ve built end-to-end Required Experience • Strong Azure Synapse Analytics experience (essential) • Proven expertise with: • Synapse Notebooks • Pipeline development • Solid Python (data engineering focus) and SQL • Experience designing and structuring ETL/data engineering frameworks • Ability to work independently without hand-holding • Strong Microsoft/Azure background (true specialist) • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric components (e.g. Synapse, Data Lake, related services) Not Suitable For • Business Analysts or functional roles • Managers / Leads not coding day-to-day • Candidates who have only “touched” Azure tools
