World Wide Technology is looking for a Back-End Engineer (Python). This job is part of WWTโ€™s Strategic Resourcing services. The candidate will be supporting a WWT customer and will be employed by one of WWTโ€™s preferred partners. The partner will provide full compensation and benefit information prior to employment with the partner. Back-End Engineer (Python) Location: Plano, TX (5 days onsite) Contract Duration: 6 months Overview WWT is seeking two Back-End Engineers (Python) to join a high-impact engineering team supporting a major financial services client. This project focuses on building a Network Management and Automation Platform that unifies and automates core operational processes across thousands of branch locations โ€” including change automation, compliance validation, and service lifecycle management. The back-end engineers will design and develop RESTful APIs, implement asynchronous processing for automation workflows, and integrate the system with existing network and business process applications. Key Responsibilities โ€ข Design, develop, and maintain Python-based backend services and REST APIs supporting network automation workflows. โ€ข Implement asynchronous job execution, event handling, and background task management using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django. โ€ข Integrate with Camunda BPM (Java-based) workflows, Airflow orchestration, and PostgreSQL databases. โ€ข Develop and manage data persistence layers, schema design, and query optimization for performance and scalability. โ€ข Collaborate closely with front-end developers (React) to define API contracts and ensure smooth integration between the UI and backend. โ€ข Work with DevOps engineers to containerize services, optimize CI/CD pipelines, and deploy microservices in Kubernetes. โ€ข Write unit tests, integration tests, and ensure API-level observability (logging, tracing, metrics). โ€ข Participate in Agile development, code reviews, and architecture discussions, contributing to technical excellence across the project. Required Technical Skills โ€ข 4โ€“8 years of professional software engineering experience. โ€ข Strong proficiency in Python and one or more backend frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, or Django REST Framework). โ€ข Experience with REST API design, authentication/authorization (OAuth2, JWT), and asynchronous programming (async/await, multithreading, multiprocessing). โ€ข Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, including schema design and query optimization. โ€ข Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm). โ€ข Exposure to Airflow, Camunda BPM, or other workflow automation/orchestration tools. โ€ข Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git). โ€ข Understanding of API performance, caching, and reliability principles. Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $55 to $65 hourly. Actual pay will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs, and will be set by your employer. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ.
