Role description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Benchling Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Consultant with strong technical expertise and hands-on experience implementing, configuring, and optimizing the Benchling platform. This role will work closely with clients to design end-to-end solutions, deliver training, and drive successful adoption of the platform.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Implementation
Lead full-cycle Benchling deployments, including configuration, data modeling, workflow design, data migration, and integration.
Integrate Benchling with lab instruments and third-party systems such as ELN, LIMS, and other scientific applications.
Ensure scalable and future-ready architectures aligned with client objectives.
Client Collaboration
Partner with scientists, R&D teams, IT, and business stakeholders to translate scientific and operational needs into Benchling workflows.
Conduct requirement-gathering workshops and provide expert recommendations.
Training & Support
Create training materials, documentation, and best-practice guides.
Deliver end-user and admin-level training sessions.
Provide ongoing technical support, troubleshooting, and optimization recommendations.
Compliance
Ensure solutions meet relevant industry standards, including GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and data integrity requirements.
Support clients in audits and validation activities.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Stay updated on new Benchling features, releases, and capabilities.
Recommend enhancements and process improvements to maximize platform value.
Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience with Benchling (configuration, administration, workflow design, integration).
Strong background in life sciences (biotech, pharma, CRO) with a solid understanding of R&D workflows.
Experience leading cross-functional technical projects with diverse stakeholder groups.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-technical users.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; familiarity with APIs, SDKs, and integration frameworks.
Bachelorβs degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Benchling Administrator Certification or similar credentials.
Experience with Python or JavaScript for workflow automation or custom integrations.
Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Understanding of data security, compliance frameworks, and validated system environments.
