Role description
BCforward is seeking a highly motivated Benchling Developer to support their pharmaceutical client’s facilities in Indianapolis and/or Boston. Expected Duration: Long Term Location: Indianapolis, IN or Boston, MA; hybrid Job Description The candidate will be responsible for gathering and prioritizing requirements from highly intelligent scientists. This developer will need to differentiate requirements that are critical and non-critical. Must have excellent analysis skills and ability to understand system inter-dependencies to ensure minimal impacts when implementing system changes. Services and Deliverables: β€’ Develop new notebook templates, components and tools to improve coverage of experimental workflows in Benchling. β€’ Translate scientific requirements into viable IT solutions. β€’ Communicate with scientists to clearly define experimental workflow data requirements. β€’ Develop dashboards that provide clarity into the status and quality of experimental workflows. β€’ Train scientists on the use of Benchling along with the developed workflows and system requirements. β€’ Provide technical support and troubleshooting capabilities for scientists. β€’ Build data connections between systems such as Benchling, Biologica, Research data and data visualization and analysis platforms. Required Skills: β€’ Good communication skills and desire to learn - learning agility β€’ Strong problem-solving abilities β€’ Benchling β€’ Lab automation experience a plus β€’ Programming skills: β€’ Python β€’ JavaScript, CSS, HTML β€’ Databases (relational DB minimally, with knowledge of relational schemas and normalization) β€’ SQL Minimum Skills to start immediately contributing: β€’ Django or Flask β€’ Gunicorn (Green Unicorn\Python) and NGINX β€’ Testing in Python β€’ RESTful services β€’ git and GitHub Preferred Experience/Knowledge in the following to be highly effective: β€’ Django-rest-framework β€’ Docker β€’ AWS β€’ Jenkins and CI/CD β€’ Pandas, Numpy, SciPy, etc. β€’ Biology β€’ Bioinformatics β€’ Python packaging β€’ React + Redux Would be nice additions to the skills above: β€’ Airflow β€’ React β€’ Machine Learning β€’ OLAP (Redshift, Netezza) β€’ Hadoop, Spark Additional Skills /Preferences: β€’ LIMS experience β€’ Postgres β€’ Ability to listen and gather requirements from scientists β€’ Ability to communicate ideas clearly β€’ Creative, detail-oriented and organized
