Contract BI Analyst (Looker) - 6 Months - Outside IR35 - £550-£650/day Location: Remote Duration: 6 months IR35: Outside IR35 Day Rate: £550-£650/day Start: ASAP The Opportunity A leading marketplace platform is seeking an experienced BI Analyst with strong Looker & LookML expertise to support a major overhaul of their analytics environment. You will work across engineering and insights functions to improve reporting, rebuild Looker models, and introduce governance standards that enable self-serve analytics. The organisation has recently moved responsibility for ~80 Looker models into the engineering team. Data quality is currently poor, and they need a contractor capable of operating at scale-not someone who has only worked on one or two models. This role will suit someone who has owned or re-architected large Looker ecosystems. What You'll Be Doing • Partner with engineering, insights, finance and wider stakeholders to understand reporting needs. • Rebuild, optimise and standardise Looker models and dashboards. • Improve overall performance, remove ambiguity, and develop self-serve analytics. • Establish reporting governance: define what good looks like and drive consistency across teams. • Act as a collaborative, hands-on specialist embedded across both insights and engineering. Required Skills • Expertise in Looker & LookML (large-scale environments essential) • Strong SQL • Proven experience improving data models and dashboard performance • Ability to work independently while collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders Nice to Have • Python • Databricks Soft Skills • Highly collaborative • Self-sufficient and proactive Interview Process 1. Delivered scalable LookML solutions, boosting performance and reducing ambiguity. Built stakeholder-friendly dashboards and improved end-to-end reporting processes. Worked collaboratively across teams while operating independently as the Looker specialist.
