Role description
I'm currently partnered with a growing professional services business that is evolving its internal BI ecosystem and looking to hire a mid-senior BI Engineer into a small, high-impact team for a 6-month fixed-term contract.
This is a broad and genuinely technical role sitting at the heart of the BI function, responsible for supporting delivery of the company's Power BI roadmap and integrating multiple internal systems into a single, scalable BI ecosystem. You'd work across active workstreams covering forecasting, profitability, HR analytics, and system migration, working closely with the BI and FP&A team to turn business requirements into robust, reusable data models.
The environment suits someone who enjoys building and optimising BI infrastructure, takes pride in clean, well-documented data models, and wants to be part of a platform that's actively evolving, including ongoing integration work with Databricks.
What you'll be doing:
• Building and optimising Power BI data models aligned to business KPIs
• Developing efficient DAX measures and Power Query transformations
• Assisting in building clean tables and views in Databricks Gold Layer from various sources
• Optimising Power BI refresh performance and implementing Row-Level Security
• Documenting models, relationships and dataflow logic for maintainability
• Supporting dashboard setup and validation
Tech stack includes:
Power BI, DAX, Power Query, SQL, Databricks, Azure SQL, Power Automate/Power Apps.
What they're looking for:
• 5–7 years' experience in Power BI development and data engineering
• Proficient in DAX, Power Query, SQL and star schema modelling
• Hands-on experience integrating multi-source data, ideally Databricks/Azure SQL
• Strong understanding of RLS, Power BI Service workspaces, and dataset governance
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Comfortable working in a fully remote, fast-paced agile environment
