Role Overview
The client is seeking a highly skilled Big Data Engineer with strong Cassandra experience to design, build, and support scalable data platforms handling large volumes of structured and unstructured data. This role focuses on high-performance, distributed systems supporting mission-critical enterprise applications.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience with Big Data technologies, NoSQL databases (Cassandra), and distributed data processing frameworks, and will collaborate closely with architecture, application, and analytics teams.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design, develop, and maintain large-scale Big Data platforms using Apache Cassandra
β’ Build and optimize high-availability, fault-tolerant, distributed data solutions
β’ Develop data pipelines for ingestion, processing, and transformation of high-volume data
β’ Tune Cassandra clusters for performance, scalability, and reliability
β’ Collaborate with application teams to design optimal data models and access patterns
β’ Implement data consistency, replication, and backup strategies
β’ Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in Big Data environments
β’ Ensure data security, governance, and compliance with enterprise standards
β’ Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to platform modernization initiatives
Required Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
β’ 6+ years of experience in Big Data engineering or distributed systems
β’ Strong hands-on experience with Apache Cassandra (data modeling, tuning, operations)
β’ Experience working with Big Data ecosystems (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.)
β’ Strong knowledge of NoSQL databases and distributed data architectures
β’ Proficiency in Java, Scala, or Python
β’ Experience with Linux/Unix environments
β’ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
β’ Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience in financial services or banking domain
β’ Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
β’ Experience with real-time or streaming data architectures
β’ Familiarity with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and automation
β’ Exposure to data governance, security, and regulatory requirements
