Location: Austin, Texas Duration: September 1, 2026 – August 31, 2027 (up to 2,080 hours) Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (excluding state holidays); occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Overview
A Texas state agency seeks a Business Analyst 2 to support current projects and priorities in the facilitation of gathering themes, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria, as well as analysis of existing requirements documentation. The successful candidate will directly support project and development teams on various initiatives to improve agency effectiveness, ensure compliance with applicable statutes, and enhance service delivery capabilities. This is a hybrid position combining on-site and telework.
Key Responsibilities
• Support current projects and priorities in the facilitation of gathering themes/epics/user stories/acceptance criteria and analysis of existing requirements documentation
• Directly support project and development teams on various initiatives to improve agency effectiveness, compliance with applicable statutes, and enhance service delivery capabilities
• Facilitate project development and quality assurance discussions on gathering story points to use for a predictive level of effort model
• Create themes/epics/user stories/acceptance criteria according to agency standards
• Convert existing use cases to actionable user stories/epics/acceptance criteria in Jira
• Analyze existing process documentation and document potential opportunities to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency
• Support development and implementation of various initiatives
Required Qualifications
• 4+ years of experience in the field or related field as a senior level Business Analyst (technical/emerging technology)
• 4+ years of experience with a basic working knowledge of Agile project management methodology/practices
Preferred Qualifications
• 1+ year of experience understanding and documentation of use cases
• 1+ year of experience in process documentation mapping
Work Location & Requirements
• Hybrid position with on-site and telework components
• Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding state holidays
• May be required to work outside normal business hours on weekends, evenings, and holidays as requested
• All travel, per diem, parking, and living expenses are at the candidate's and/or vendor's expense
• Must pass a criminal background check; various disqualifiers apply including felony convictions, certain misdemeanors, DWI convictions within the past five years, active warrants, and other criminal history items
