Role Title: Business Analyst – Payments & Finance Change

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with deep expertise in Finance, Product Control, and Payment's systems to join the Markets Finance Tech Change Team. The role involves driving strategic finance transformation initiatives, defining business requirements, and supporting system enhancements across Finance, Risk, and Treasury functions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial data analysis, sub-ledger accounting, business process modelling, and Agile delivery frameworks, with proven experience managing senior stakeholder relationships within investment banking or financial services.
Key Responsibilities:
Business & Data Analysis
• Define and document detailed business and functional requirements aligned with Finance transformation objectives.
• Perform data analysis and modelling using SQL for data interrogation and validation.
• Conduct business process modelling and gap analysis to identify optimisation opportunities.
• Collaborate with Risk, Finance, and Treasury teams to capture and translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and mock-ups to support Agile sprint planning and delivery.
• Support UAT processes, resolve issues, and validate solutions against requirements.
• Provide recommendations for process re-engineering and control improvements.
Stakeholder & Delivery Management
• Liaise with senior stakeholders (Director / MD level) to gather inputs and align project objectives.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives).
• Mentor and guide junior BAs on business and data analysis best practices.
Required Skills & Experience:
• 15+ years of experience as a Business Analyst within Banking or Financial Services, ideally in Finance, Product Control, or Treasury functions.
• Strong understanding of sub-ledger accounting, P&L, balance sheet finalisation, and related financial control processes.
• Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and interrogation.
• Proven experience with data modelling and business process design.
• Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience preparing product backlogs, user stories, and functional specifications using tools such as Confluence and Jira.
Preferred Skills:
• Strong understanding of Payments domain and Cards systems.
• Experience in Finance transformation or change management initiatives.
• Ability to interpret complex business requirements into clear, structured technical designs.
• Exposure to data governance, regulatory reporting, or risk control frameworks.
