About the Position
The Business Analyst – AI Center of Excellence (AI CoE) supports the successful adoption and scaling of artificial intelligence across Ameren by translating business ideas into clearly defined, decision-ready AI initiatives. This role sits within a newly established Data Analytics and AI organization and serves as the operational backbone of the intake and prioritization process for all AI-related initiatives across the enterprise.
The Senior Business Analyst partners closely with business stakeholders, AI CoE leadership, and the AI Steering Committee (AI SteerCo) to clarify objectives, assess value and readiness, and position AI initiatives to deliver measurable business outcomes. While the role collaborates with governance and compliance partners, its primary focus is on business clarity, enablement, momentum, and value realization rather than enforcement or control.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary intake and coordination point for enterprise AI ideas and initiatives, capturing objectives, value hypotheses, scope, and readiness
• Organize and maintain a transparent AI intake pipeline that reflects status, ownership, priorities, and next steps
• Meet with business stakeholders to clarify needs, value drivers, and risk before initiatives move forward
• Support AI CoE leadership in structuring and preparing prioritization materials based on business value, readiness, dependencies, and strategic alignment
• Maintain the AI use-case portfolio, tracking initiative status, sequencing, key milestones, and decision outcomes
• Prepare clear, concise, decision-ready materials for AI SteerCo discussions, including summaries of value, progress, risks, and open items
• Facilitate communication between business sponsors, AI CoE leadership, and AI SteerCo to ensure decisions, expectations, and follow-up actions are clearly understood
• Track executive decisions and action items through completion, ensuring outcomes are visible and communicated
• Act as a central communication hub for AI activity, providing consistent updates on pipeline health, progress, themes, and emerging issues
• Coordinate with governance, risk, legal, privacy, cybersecurity, and architecture partners to efficiently integrate required reviews into the AI workflow
• Identify recurring intake, prioritization, and execution challenges and partner with AI CoE leadership to continuously improve the operating model
• Support enterprise adoption of AI by reducing confusion, duplication, and stalled initiatives while promoting clarity and consistency across teams
Other Skills, Strengths, and Knowledge:
• 5 to 7+ years of experience as a Senior Business Analyst or in a similar role
• Strong background in business analysis, intake, demand management, or portfolio management
• Experience with AI, data analytics, or digital transformation initiatives; hands-on model development is not required but working familiarity with AI tools and generative AI concepts (ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to organize ambiguous ideas into structured, actionable information
• Proven organizational and prioritization skills across competing initiatives and stakeholders
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive-ready materials
• Experience working in cross-functional environments spanning business, technical, and governance teams
• Familiarity with enterprise systems and tools such as ServiceNow, Salesforce, Workday, Databricks, or cloud ecosystems (AWS or similar) is a plus
• A collaborative, facilitative style that builds trust and momentum rather than bureaucracy
• Confidence engaging with senior leaders while maintaining a service-oriented mindset
• Proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-changing environments
• Ability to identify patterns, bottlenecks, and opportunities for continuous improvement
