Business Analyst

Business Data Analyst 3-6 month long contract to hire, remote in NC Summary We’re seeking a Business Analyst to support Operations, Merchandising, Marketing, and Construction & Maintenance by transforming data into clear insights, actionable reporting, and practical recommendations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑moving environment, asks the right questions, and proactively uncovers opportunities that improve performance across a multi‑unit convenience retail network. You’ll build dashboards, analyze trends, support cross‑functional decisions, and help leaders understand what’s happening in the business—and what to do next. Responsibilities • Develop, maintain, and improve dashboards, reports, and scorecards • Build clear, accurate reporting that drives fast, informed decision‑making • Translate business questions into analytical and reporting solutions • Ensure reporting is user‑friendly, reliable, and focused on key performance drivers • Analyze sales, margin, labor, promotions, pricing, and store execution • Explain not just what changed, but why it changed and what should happen next • Conduct ad hoc analyses for strategic priorities and urgent business needs • Proactively surface insights without waiting for requests • Serve as an analytics partner to Operations, Merchandising, and Marketing • Support category reviews, promotional evaluations, assortment decisions, and labor analysis • Connect data across functions to show full business impact • Present findings clearly with actionable recommendations • Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and structural issues • Improve data definitions, reporting logic, and data governance • Simplify reporting and eliminate low‑value analysis • Manage multiple priorities with limited direction • Own projects from question to analysis to recommendation • Operate with strong judgment, responsiveness, and organization Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Marketing, or related field • Experience in business analysis, business intelligence, or commercial analytics • Strong background supporting leaders with reporting, analysis, and decision support • Advanced skills in Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools • Strong Excel skills and ability to work with large, complex datasets • Experience analyzing sales, margin, pricing, promotions, and operational performance • Ability to work independently in a fast‑moving, unstructured environment • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex findings • Experience in convenience retail, retail, grocery, QSR, or multi‑unit environments (preferred) • Experience supporting Operations, Merchandising, and Marketing simultaneously (preferred) • Experience with POS, loyalty, labor, inventory, or category management data (preferred) • Experience building KPI frameworks and executive‑level reporting (preferred) The salary range for this position is 40/hr to 45/hr.
