Role description
An electric utility client is looking for a Business Analyst who will support digital product delivery initiatives by transforming business requirements into well-defined, actionable user stories and requirements that can be efficiently executed by development teams.
Position: Business Analyst
Location: Rosemead, CA, 91770- (Hybrid- Onsite Tu & W)
Pay Rate: $38.60/hr. on W2
Duration: 6 months or longer
Schedule: 1st shift, M-F, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
RESPONSIBILITIES
β’ We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Analyst to support digital product delivery initiatives by transforming business requirements into well-defined, actionable user stories and requirements that can be efficiently executed by development teams.
β’ The Business Analyst will partner closely with Product Managers, business stakeholders, UX, and technology teams to ensure work is clearly defined, properly prioritized, and ready for development.
β’ This role will be responsible for eliciting requirements, documenting business processes, creating user stories and acceptance criteria, supporting backlog management, facilitating delivery activities, and ensuring solutions meet business objectives.
β’ The ideal candidate has experience working in Agile environments and excels at bridging the gap between business needs and technical implementation.
β’ Requirements Elicitation & Analysis
β’ Partner with Product Managers and business stakeholders to understand business objectives, customer needs, workflows, and desired outcomes
β’ Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable functional requirements.
β’ Document business rules, process flows, decision logic, dependencies, and exception handling scenarios.
β’ Identify gaps, risks, assumptions, and dependencies within requirements.
β’ User Story Development
β’ Create high-quality user stories that are clear, complete, testable, and ready for development.
β’ Develop detailed acceptance criteria using industry best practices.
β’ Ensure stories contain sufficient business context, user value, and expected outcomes.
β’ Backlog Management & Prioritization
β’ Support Product Managers in managing and maintaining the product backlog.
β’ Assist with backlog grooming and refinement activities.
β’ Validate that stories meet "Definition of Ready" criteria prior to entering development.
β’ Track dependencies across teams and initiatives.
β’ Delivery Support
β’ Clarify requirements and answer questions during development.
β’ Work collaboratively with developers, testers, architects, UX designers, and Product Managers to remove ambiguity.
β’ Ensure development teams have the information necessary to successfully deliver solutions.
β’ Testing & Validation
β’ Support creation and execution of User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
β’ Validate delivered functionality against documented requirements and acceptance criteria.
β’ Assist in identifying, documenting, and prioritizing defects.
β’ Verify solutions meet business objectives before release.
β’ Coordinate stakeholder reviews and business signoffs where required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
β’ 3+ years of Business Analyst experience supporting software, digital, or technology initiatives.
β’ Experience supporting customer-facing digital products such as web, mobile, customer self-service, or contact center solutions.
β’ Demonstrated experience creating detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for Agile development teams.
β’ Experience managing and refining product backlogs.
β’ Strong understanding of product development methodologies.
β’ Ability to analyze business processes and translate them into technology requirements.
β’ Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
β’ Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
β’ Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
β’ Experience using Jira, Aha!, and Figma
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
β’ Experience creating process flows, journey maps, wireframes, or workflow diagrams.
β’ Familiarity with UX design principles and customer experience best practices.
β’ Experience supporting large-scale enterprise implementations.
β’ Knowledge of utility, energy, customer service, billing, payments, or digital customer experience domains
