Role description
The Cloud Platform Business Analyst (BA) partners with cloud engineering, architecture, security, and application teams to translate business and technical needs into clear, actionable documentation that enables scalable cloud platform delivery. This role is heavily focused on requirements elicitation, documentation, and governance artifactsβnot data analysis or reporting.
The BA serves as the connective tissue between stakeholders and delivery teams, ensuring cloud initiatives (Azure/AWS/GCP) are well-defined, properly documented, and aligned with enterprise standards before and during implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements & Stakeholder Engagement
β’ Lead requirements gathering sessions with business, platform, security, and engineering stakeholders
β’ Elicit and document functional, non-functional, and technical requirements for cloud platform initiatives
β’ Translate loosely defined needs into structured, testable requirements and acceptance criteria
β’ Manage requirement traceability across initiatives and delivery phases
Documentation & Artifacts
β’ Produce high-quality documentation including:
β’ Business Requirements Documents (BRDs)
β’ Functional & Non-Functional Requirements (FRDs / NFRs)
β’ Platform capability definitions
β’ Process flows and system interaction diagrams
β’ User stories, epics, and acceptance criteria
β’ Maintain cloud platform documentation repositories (Confluence, SharePoint, Git-based wikis, etc.)
β’ Ensure documentation meets enterprise governance, audit, and compliance standards
Delivery Support
β’ Partner with cloud architects and engineers to validate feasibility and completeness of requirements
β’ Support Agile and hybrid delivery models by refining backlog items and clarifying scope
β’ Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and design reviews as the requirements authority
β’ Assist with change control by documenting scope changes and impact assessments
Governance & Standards Alignment
β’ Ensure requirements align with:
β’ Cloud security and compliance standards
β’ Enterprise architecture principles
β’ Platform operating models and service catalogs
β’ Support audit and regulatory documentation needs as required
β’ Help standardize templates and documentation practices across cloud initiatives
Required Qualifications
β’ 4+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting technology or platform initiatives
β’ Strong experience with requirements elicitation and documentation, not analytics or BI
β’ Demonstrated ability to work with cloud platform teams (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
β’ Proficiency with tools such as:
β’ Jira / Azure DevOps
β’ Confluence / SharePoint
β’ Visio, Lucidchart, or similar diagramming tools
β’ Excellent written communication skills with a high bar for clarity and precision
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience supporting cloud platform or infrastructure programs
β’ Familiarity with cloud concepts such as:
β’ Landing zones
β’ Identity and access management
β’ Networking and security controls
β’ Platform services and shared services models
β’ Experience in regulated or enterprise environments (healthcare, finance, government, etc.)
β’ Agile / SAFe experience as a BA or Product Owner proxy
