Business Analyst – BlackRock Aladdin

This role focuses on analyzing business requirements, translating them into functional specifications, and leveraging SQL to extract, validate, and analyze data across Aladdin’s investment, risk, and reporting modules. The ideal candidate has strong financial domain knowledge, hands‑on SQL expertise, and experience working in complex, data‑intensive environments. Key Responsibilities Business Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement • Partner with investment, risk, operations, and technology stakeholders to gather and document business requirements related to Aladdin workflows. • Translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. • Act as a liaison between business users and technology teams to ensure accurate delivery of solutions. Data Analysis & SQL Development • Write complex SQL queries to extract, analyze, and validate data from Aladdin data stores and downstream systems. • Perform data quality checks, reconciliation, and root‑cause analysis for reporting and analytics issues. • Support ad‑hoc data requests and recurring reporting needs for investment and risk teams. Aladdin Platform Support • Support implementation, configuration, and enhancement of Aladdin modules (e.g., Portfolio Management, Risk, Performance, Compliance, or Accounting). • Assist with system upgrades, data migrations, and onboarding of new asset classes, portfolios, or clients. • Participate in UAT planning, execution, and defect resolution. Process Improvement & Documentation • Identify opportunities to streamline business processes and improve data accuracy and reporting efficiency. • Create and maintain business process flows, data mappings, and system documentation. • Contribute to best practices for data governance, controls, and operational excellence. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Computer Science, or a related field. • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in financial services, asset management, or fintech. • Strong SQL skills with experience writing complex queries (joins, subqueries, aggregations). • Solid understanding of investment management concepts (portfolios, securities, pricing, risk, performance). • Experience working with large data sets and enterprise systems. • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non‑technical teams. Preferred Qualifications • Hands‑on experience with BlackRock Aladdin or similar investment management platforms. • Knowledge of asset classes such as equities, fixed income, derivatives, and alternatives. • Experience with data warehouses, reporting tools, or BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence). • Experience supporting regulatory, risk, or performance reporting.
