Kforce has a client that is seeking a Business Analyst - Data Catalog Curator in Broomfield, CO. Summary: The Business Analyst - Data Catalog Curator plays a pivotal role in connecting business understanding with enterprise data management. This role ensures that business terms, data assets, and processes are clearly defined, discoverable, and aligned with organizational goals. The position combines analytical, business, and data governance expertise to curate the enterprise data catalog, improve data quality transparency, and enable better data-driven decisions across the organization. This role will assist with converting KPI's from Alation to Collate our data catalog tool and understanding the DAX measures from Power BI reports. Key Responsibilities: Data Catalog Curation:
β’ Curate and maintain metadata, business terms, and definitions within the enterprise data catalog
β’ Collaborate with data owners, stewards, and domain leads to ensure consistent, approved terminology
β’ Classify data assets across business domains and maintain accurate lineage and relationships
β’ Support onboarding of new datasets and ensure proper tagging, ownership, and descriptions
β’ Monitor catalog usage and adoption metrics, recommending improvements for user experience and completeness
Business Analysis
β’ Gather, document, and analyze business requirements related to data, reporting, and governance initiatives
β’ Facilitate workshops and discussions with stakeholders to capture data needs, KPIs, and quality requirements
β’ Translate business processes and rules into metadata and catalog documentation
β’ Analyze business data to identify gaps, redundancies, or improvement opportunities
β’ Support development of data standards, workflows, and quality metrics in alignment with enterprise governance
Collaboration & Communication:
β’ Partner with business users, IT, and governance teams to align data assets with business goals
Requirements
Data & Technical Skills:
β’ Strong understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data governance principles
β’ Familiarity with enterprise data catalog tools (Alation and Collate)
β’ Working knowledge of Snowflake and data querying
β’ Basic understanding of data modeling and data quality frameworks in Power BI
Business & Analytical Skills:
β’ Experience in business requirements gathering, process analysis, and documentation
β’ Ability to define and interpret KPIs and data quality metrics
β’ Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
β’ Experience developing business glossaries and managing business domain classification
Communication & Collaboration:
β’ Strong facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
β’ Proven ability to collaborate across business and technical teams
β’ Skilled in documentation and translating complex concepts into business-friendly language
Soft Skills
β’ Detail-oriented, methodical, and organized
β’ Self-motivated with curiosity for both data and business processes
β’ Adaptable to change and able to manage multiple priorities
β’ Committed to continuous learning and improving data literacy
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Management, Information Systems, or a related field
β’ 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Steward, or Data Governance professional
β’ Experience implementing or managing an enterprise data catalog
β’ Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK)
β’ Experience with visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) a plus

β’ Accuracy and completeness of catalog content
β’ Increased adoption and usage of the data catalog by business teams
β’ Improved data quality transparency and ownership
β’ Positive stakeholder feedback on data accessibility and understanding
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
