Role description
Role: Business Analyst - EDI Integration
Duration: 6-month contract to start
Location: Hybrid in Oak Park Heights, MN (3 days onsite)
Rate: $58.48-$64.33/hour W2, dependent on skills and qualifications
About the Role
We are seeking a Business Analyst with hands-on experience supporting and enhancing EDI integration technologies to join our Integrations Team. This role focuses on EDI transaction flows, trading partner connectivity, and enabling smooth data exchange across the enterprise.
Our primary EDI VAN is IBM Sterling, and candidates with experience in IBM Sterling or a similar EDI platform (e.g., TrueCommerce, SPS Commerce, OpenText, Cleo, Boomi EDI) are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience with broader integration tools and concepts such as MuleSoft is preferred but not required.
You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and external trading partners to ensure efficient, accurate, and reliable data integrations that support core business processes.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Analyze, document, and support EDI integrations across multiple functional areas including supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, and customer operations.
β’ Facilitate trading partner onboarding, mapping updates, and issue resolution for EDI transaction sets (e.g., 850, 855, 856, 810).
β’ Collaborate with internal and external partners to troubleshoot transmission issues, VAN connectivity problems, and data translation errors.
β’ Translate business requirements into clear functional and technical specifications for integration teams.
β’ Support and contribute to integration design discussions involving EDI, APIs, and middleware technologies.
β’ Define and validate reporting and monitoring requirements to ensure high EDI reliability and visibility.
β’ Assist with and occasionally lead unit, integration, and user acceptance testing for EDI and other integration changes.
β’ Maintain strong relationships with customers, IT teams, EDI coordinators, and project leads to meet integration service expectations.
β’ Participate in continuous improvement of integration processes, documentation, and standards.
Qualifications
Education
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.
Experience
β’ 3+ years of business analysis or integration analyst experience.
β’ Hands-on experience with EDI technologies, VANs, and transaction mapping.
β’ Experience with IBM Sterling (preferred), or similar EDI platforms.
β’ Understanding of integration concepts such as data mapping, translation, APIs, middleware, and file-based integrations.
Skills
β’ Strong analytical and problemβsolving skills with the ability to troubleshoot end-to-end data flows.
β’ Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
β’ Experience writing functional requirements, process models, and test scenarios.
β’ Comfort working in Agile or hybrid delivery models.
Preferred (Not Required)
β’ Experience with MuleSoft or other iPaaS/middleware integration tools.
β’ Knowledge of XML, JSON, flat files, REST/SOAP, or API-related integration concepts.
β’ Familiarity with ERP, CRM, or supply chain systems (SAP, Oracle, and others).
