You bring advanced Tableau expertise, strong Excel workbook experience, strong SQL skills, and a program management mindset, enabling you to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and drive alignment on reporting needs. You are comfortable working in Excel-based reporting environments and modernizing those assets into scalable Tableau dashboards and data products.
You will be expected to ramp quickly and deliver tangible reporting improvements within the contract period, for example, standing up core dashboards, standardizing KPIs, and documenting key reporting assets for long-term sustainability.
This is a hybrid, 6-Month W2-contract assignment with the opportunity for contract extension or to transition to a permanent, full-time role based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Partner with business stakeholders to assess, define, and prioritize reporting and analytics requirements.
β’ Design, build, and maintain Tableau dashboards and visualizations that translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
β’ Take ownership of existing Tableau workbooks, quickly understand legacy logic, and update, optimize, and rationalize them to meet evolving needs.
β’ Conduct data analysis to support strategic decisions and operational performance tracking.
β’ Review and rationalize Excel workbooks and reports, determining which logic and visuals to migrate into Tableau.
β’ Manage reporting initiatives end to end, including requirements, timelines, communication, and delivery.
β’ Identify and implement improvements to reporting processes, data quality, dashboard performance, and visual design.
β’ Document reporting standards, data definitions, and best practices to ensure long-term sustainability.
β’ Facilitate stakeholder workshops and intake sessions to align priorities and report roadmaps.
β’ Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
β’ Enable self-service analytics by training stakeholders, creating how-to guides, and hosting office hours on key dashboards.
β’ Design dashboards with usability and adoption in mind, including clear documentation and usage guidelines.
β’ Simplify complex data stories and influence decisions with senior and cross-functional stakeholders.
β’ Work with minimal direction, prioritize and sequence work based on business impact.
β’ Mentor and coach less-experienced analysts, sharing best practices across the team.
β’ Define and document source-of-truth KPIs and metric definitions with stakeholders.
β’ Ensure metric consistency across dashboards and reports; proactively identify and resolve conflicting definitions.
Required Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Business, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
β’ 5+ years in a data analyst, business analyst, or similar reporting-focused role.
β’ Advanced experience with Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, data models, and/or Power Query) and a proven track record of converting Excel reports into Tableau dashboards.
β’ Proficient in Tableau, including dashboard development, calculated fields, data blending, and publishing to Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud.
β’ Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, validation, and complex queries on large datasets.
β’ Demonstrated program/project management skills, managing multiple workstreams, timelines, and stakeholder relationships.
β’ Strong requirements gathering and facilitation skills.
β’ Experience working with large datasets and translating business questions into structured analytical approaches.
β’ Excellent communication skills, able to present insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
β’ Experience designing measurement frameworks (KPIs, targets, leading/lagging indicators) for programs or operations.
β’ Experience implementing data quality checks, validation rules, or data governance practices (e.g., lineage, ownership, documentation of source systems).
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience leveraging AI / LLM tools (e.g., for code generation, documentation, insight summarization, or report automation).
β’ Experience with additional BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Looker).
β’ Experience with modern data platforms or cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Hive/Presto).
