Role description
Job Title: Business Analyst – Intermediate (11200)
Location: Columbia, SC (Fully Onsite)
Duration: 12 Months (Possible Extension)
Interview Process: 1 Round – Virtual/Online
Total Work Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Candidate Location Requirement: Must be a South Carolina resident – No relocation allowed.
Key Responsibilities
• Gather program requirements to develop monitoring and tracking templates.
• Perform data analysis and visualization to support decision-making and investigations.
• Create and maintain recurring operational and oversight reports.
• Analyze grievance, appeals, authorization, disputes, and contract monitoring datasets.
• Conduct trend analysis, outlier detection, and data validation activities.
• Prepare and communicate analytical findings, reports, and presentations to leadership.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to data governance and reporting.
• Collaborate with internal teams including IT, Managed Care staff, and agency stakeholders.
• Support process improvement initiatives and additional agency projects as assigned.
• Work with external organizations including vendors, providers, and state/federal agencies.
• Participate in professional development and training initiatives.
Required Skills
• Master’s degree in Data Science, Public Health, Statistics, Health Informatics, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of:
• Research design methodologies
• Data collection and manipulation
• Data analysis and presentation techniques
• Experience with:
• SAS
• Microsoft Excel
• Python
• Ability to analyze and interpret data using statistical and mathematical techniques.
• Ability to identify trends and predict future actions based on data analysis.
• Strong reporting and presentation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to quickly learn new content, systems, and processes.
Preferred Skills
• Experience working with federal or state healthcare data systems such as:
• Medicaid
• HRSA
• HHS
• Census data systems
• Experience with:
• Data visualization tools
• Statistical analysis software
• Healthcare data reporting and analytics
• Previous experience supporting Managed Care or Medicaid oversight functions.
