Business Analyst

Job Description: Our client is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to perform advanced business analysis for complex technology initiatives, including GIS modernization and migration to Azure SQL databases. This role involves working on large-scale hardware and software projects, gathering and documenting requirements, reviewing and improving business processes, validating user acceptance testing, and providing research and project support to users. The Senior Business Analyst will operate under limited supervision with considerable latitude for independent judgment and initiative. Responsibilities include analyzing and documenting the GIS migration project, migrating data from Oracle to new systems, and building a Data Warehouse. The candidate ensures that all deliverables adhere to established processes, quality standards, and accepted business analysis methodologies. This role may include assigning or supervising work of others. Key Responsibilities: • Gather, develop, and document requirements using multiple methodologies. • Analyze existing business processes and recommend improvements. • Develop and validate user acceptance testing (UAT) plans and procedures. • Provide research and support for special projects related to GIS modernization. • Lead analysis and documentation for GIS migration and data migration from Oracle to Azure SQL. • Build and maintain a Data Warehouse. • Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and follow business analysis best practices. • Facilitate interactive sessions with business and cross-functional teams. • Prepare technical documentation, use cases, prototypes, and data models. • Assist stakeholders in identifying business challenges and implementing solutions. • Develop and maintain understanding of key business drivers and impacts. • Write functional design documents and diagram business processes. • Provide guidance during UAT, training, and implementation activities. • May assign or supervise work of junior team members. Minimum Requirements: • Experience: 10+ years of business analysis experience on software development projects, including preparation of project documentation. • Skills: • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, analytical, written/verbal, and presentation communication skills in English (technical writing). • Proficient with MS Office, Visio, SnagIt, Adobe Illustrator, Axure, or similar prototyping/screen mock-up tools. • Hands-on requirements elicitation, client management, and technical documentation including traceability, use cases, prototyping, and data modeling. • Facilitation of sessions with business and cross-functional teams. • Strong analysis of production support issues for root cause determination and documentation. • Develop/write design documents and diagram business processes. • Define functional design and system specifications; prepare, review, and deliver completed packages. • Participate in and guide business/functional units in UAT, training, and implementation activities. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with ESRI GIS products, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server web services, and geospatial databases (Oracle Spatial, SQL Server, Azure DevOps). • Knowledge of Mainframe environments, Visio, Data Warehouse/Data Lake, Informatica, Snowflake. • Experience with process improvement strategies and methodologies. • Proven ability to lead change and design efficient processes. • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry or in compliance/enforcement-related projects. • Strong teamwork, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience. • Professional certification such as CCBA, CBAP, or equivalent.
