Role description
Business Analyst – Payments
We are seeking a Business Analyst – Payments to support a large-scale payment transformation initiative focused on improving provider payment operations, workflows, and supporting technology. This role will work closely with senior leadership to analyze existing payment processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and help drive modernization of payment systems and reporting capabilities. The ideal candidate has experience working with payment workflows, claims processing, clearinghouses, and financial data analysis, and is comfortable navigating environments that include both legacy tools and evolving technology platforms.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to support a payment operations transformation initiative.
• Analyze current provider payment workflows, identifying inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for automation.
• Document business requirements, process flows, and functional specifications for payment-related systems and improvements.
• Evaluate existing claims-based payment processing and clearinghouse integrations to identify optimization opportunities.
• Support the design and implementation of improved payment processing, reconciliation, and reporting capabilities.
• Assess risks associated with manual processes and spreadsheet-driven workflows and recommend scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with operations, finance, and technology teams to ensure payment processes are accurate, efficient, and compliant.
• Translate complex payment operations requirements into actionable insights and system improvements.
• Support testing, validation, and rollout of new payment processes or technology enhancements.
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within healthcare, payments, or financial operations.
• Experience working with claims-based payment processing and/or provider payment operations.
• Familiarity with clearinghouse integrations and electronic remittance processes (e.g., 835 files).
• Strong experience analyzing complex operational workflows and financial data.
• Advanced proficiency with Excel and data analysis tools.
• Proven ability to document requirements, process maps, and system workflows.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across business and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in healthcare payments, payer operations, or value-based care environments.
• Exposure to payment processing platforms or healthcare claims systems.
• Experience supporting process transformation or operational modernization initiatives.
• Familiarity with data visualization or analytics tools (SQL, Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
