Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join the Utility Integration Business Applications team. This role focuses on planning and executing business system integration activities, supporting utility migrations, and partnering with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver successful enterprise system implementations.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience gathering business requirements, supporting system integration projects, facilitating stakeholder discussions, coordinating testing activities, and ensuring business needs are represented throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
• Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business and functional requirements for system enhancements and integration projects.
• Facilitate requirements gathering workshops, stakeholder interviews, and ad hoc meetings with business users and subject matter experts.
• Analyze business processes, identify gaps, and recommend process improvements.
• Document business benefits and validate project objectives with business sponsors.
• Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, functional teams, and technical development teams.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure business requirements are accurately translated into functional solutions.
• Participate in solution design sessions and ensure proposed solutions align with business requirements.
• Support enterprise utility integration initiatives, including migration of new utilities into existing business systems.
• Develop business process documentation, functional specifications, workflow diagrams, and supporting project documentation.
• Coordinate business readiness activities and perform impact analysis for system enhancements.
• Develop communication plans and provide updates regarding system improvements and project impacts.
• Partner with functional and technical teams to develop test strategies, test plans, detailed test cases, and test data.
• Execute System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and regression testing.
• Validate production implementations and confirm business requirements and expected benefits have been achieved.
• Support user training, training documentation, and knowledge transfer activities.
• Provide support during cutover, go-live, and hypercare phases to ensure successful system implementation.
• Assist with payment and refund process validation as part of business system integration activities.
• Successfully manage multiple priorities while working independently in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of Business Analysis or Systems Analysis experience, or 7+ years of utility operations or field experience.
• Experience supporting enterprise system implementation, migration, or integration projects.
• Strong experience gathering, documenting, and managing business requirements.
• Experience creating Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirements, process flows, and business process documentation.
• Hands-on experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), System Integration Testing (SIT), regression testing, and production validation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead discussions, build consensus, and work collaboratively across business and technical teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently.
• Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic project environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience within the Utilities, Energy, Electric, Gas, or Power Distribution industry.
• Working knowledge of Oracle, Oracle Utilities, ERP systems, or Dominion applications.
• Understanding of Distribution Operations, Customer Care, Engineering, or Utility business processes.
• Experience supporting financial business processes, including payment and refund workflows.
• CBAP certification or other Business Analysis certifications.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or Microsoft Visio.
