Role description
Job Title: Business Analyst β Finance Systems Implementation
Responsibilities:
The Business Analyst is responsible for the functional design, business specification, and deployment of Finance Systems and process change initiatives. The candidate will work as part of a project team to deliver system and process enhancements within the finance function.
General Responsibilities:
β’ Generate, analyze, and document user requirements and business processes for IT development (BRD).
β’ Conduct data assessment, data gap analysis, and remediation.
β’ Plan and manage user acceptance and migration testing through successful delivery of end products or remediation solutions.
β’ Collaborate cross-functionally to review requirements with stakeholders, coordinate with IT for design and development, support go-live, and provide ongoing operational support and governance.
β’ Ensure proper aftercare and issue remediation post-implementation.
β’ Manage issues and escalate effectively as needed.
β’ Ensure timely and quality delivery of assigned projects and tasks.
β’ Facilitate working group meetings with presentations and documentation, prepare agendas, capture outcomes, and communicate updates to stakeholders and management.
β’ Support efforts to enhance the overall control environment, including upstream processes and controls.
Specific Responsibilities:
β’ Demonstrate strong knowledge of the financial product lifecycle (Global Markets and Global Banking) and related banking processes.
β’ Collaborate with finance strategy teams on new transactions or activities.
β’ Serve as the point of contact within project teams for data and functional aspects; document and validate BRD updates accordingly.
β’ Engage with internal finance teams for schema and downstream reporting processes.
β’ Ensure accurate implementation of accounts, products, legal entities, and source systems.
β’ Track timelines, budgets, and report project progress; participate in steering committee meetings.
β’ Anticipate and resolve potential project issues with timely escalation when required.
β’ Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, reprioritizing as necessary.
β’ Maintain adherence to change management controls and governance requirements.
β’ Prepare analysis, summaries, and presentations using PowerPoint and Excel for various stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CFA or equivalent preferred.
β’ 7β10 years of experience in accounting and/or accounting systems implementation within the financial services industry.
β’ Strong technical accounting background, preferably in banking, investment management, or related sectors.
β’ Proven experience in business analysis and application testing.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SQL knowledge preferred.
β’ Deep understanding of complex financial products, accounting processes, financial reporting, month-end close, and regulatory reporting.
β’ Experience with accounting for derivatives, FX, equities, fixed income, loans, treasury, and other structured products.
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
β’ Ability to work independently and in geographically dispersed teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ CFA certification or prior experience with financial products.
β’ Familiarity with IFRS and/or US GAAP standards.
β’ Experience collaborating with IT on financial systems implementations.
β’ Background in accounting and reporting system testing (sub-ledger, general ledger, reporting tools).
β’ Proficiency in additional languages such as French, Spanish, or Portuguese is an asset.
β’ Knowledge of modern automation and analytics tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI, AI/ML, RPA).
