The Business Analyst (BA) at the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) plays a critical role in bridging business needs and technical solutions. This position provides program-level technical assistance to state and contracted IT professionals throughout multiple phases of assigned projects.
The BA will gather and analyze information from diverse sourcesβincluding business stakeholders, technical teams, and legacy documentation during project inception and throughout the development lifecycle. Success in this role requires strong analytical, facilitation, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as an inquisitive mindset that identifies opportunities to improve quality. The BA should help guide the organization toward seeing the big picture, envisioning innovative solutions, and ensuring applications are designed for usability and value.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate in an Agile Scrum environment, supporting iterative development and continuous improvement.
Work with Azure DevOps to organize and track work across Epics, Features, User Stories, Bugs, and Issues.
Develop and refine user stories to meet the Definition of Ready (DoR).
Use a variety of tools such as MS Excel, Word, Visio, Lucidchart, and PowerPoint to create supporting artifacts such as Project Vision Documents, Journey Maps, Business Workflows, Templates and Mock-ups based on interviews with technical teams, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
Assist the Product Owner in writing requirements, defining acceptance criteria, and managing user stories throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Work closely with the development team to clarify requirements, address questions during development, and validate that delivered code meets acceptance criteria.
Support Quality Assurance (QA) processes by assisting in test case creation and ensuring adequate coverage of user stories, mapping user tests to traceability matrices, and applying DODD QA standards during pre-production testing.
Support Release Management during release cycles to validate deployments and serve as a subject matter expert on business rules and system functionality to support troubleshooting and validation during releases
