Role description
Job Title: Senior Business Analyst / Data Analyst Location: Mclean, VA (Fully Onsite) Duration: 06+ Months Contract Job id – 177665 β€’ Position focused on building reporting and data solutions on a centralized data platform; primary tools: Snowflake, SQL, Python, Power BI. β€’ Candidates must be hands-on in Power BI to build dashboards and able to translate business reporting requirements into technical outputs. β€’ Typical tasks: replicate existing Excel/graph requirements in Power BI, build new dashboards from scratch, write queries/ETL logic to load data into Snowflake when needed. β€’ Mortgage-specific experience is not required; financial institution background is helpful but the role is execution-oriented with business requirements provided. β€’ Expectation: ability to work with raw data and develop automated dashboards leveraging the new centralized Snowflake data structure. Project scope & technical stack β€’ Project goal: centralize reporting data into Snowflake and use Power BI as the main visualization/reporting tool to automate reporting across daily and monthly reports and senior management forums. β€’ The internal forecasting engine is proprietary (Java) and outputs are stored in Snowflake; the team is moving away from Hyperion into Snowflake. β€’ Development work will include some SQL (pre-SQL), Python, and occasional integration code to connect with the Java engine; the team aims to keep the stack simple and not adopt many additional tools. Must Have Qualifications: Strong experience with Snowflake, SQL, and Python for data querying, reporting and building data solutions. Hands-on Power BI skills for dashboarding and visualization, with the ability to translate business reporting requirements into technical outputs. Background in finance is preferred. Experience in: β€’ Experience working as business analyst in mortgage industry β€’ Can interface between business and technical teams β€’ Understanding of different work streams support and Forecasting Governance and Controls β€’ Requirement gathering β€’ Process/data flow design β€’ Technical spec design β€’ Business analysis β€’ Translating business requirements to technical requirements -Defining project objectives Feasibility analysis β€’ Supporting development, systems integration testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) Creating and documenting UAT test strategies/plans and test cases/scripts β€’ Knowledge of manual and automation testing β€’ Excellent communication and analytical skills. β€’ Can use Power BI and automated tools. Qualifications: β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) β€’ 2 - 4 years of experience?in product /business analysis, product operations, or a related role supporting technology delivery. β€’ Proficient with Atlassian software suite (Jira, Confluence) or similar agile management tools. β€’ Experience working with agile delivery teams (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and supporting backlog refinement, business process documentation and requirements management. β€’ Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills; able to use data and stakeholder input to inform recommendations. β€’ Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to facilitate working sessions and document outcomes clearly. β€’ Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments with flexibility to manage multiple concurrent priorities. β€’ Experience in the broader financial services industry is required.About PTR Global: PTR Global is a leading provider of information technology and workforce solutions.
