Role description
About the Technology Division
The Technology Division provides information and system technology services to all business areas in the Bank as part of Central Services. Our key objective is to support policy and operational divisions to meet the Bank’s stated objectives.
The division’s structure reflects the technology delivery lifecycle—planning and designing new technologies and investments, then building, maintaining, and running them securely. A dedicated operating function ensures information and data security.
This role sits within Technology Strategy & Architecture (TSA), responsible for aligning IT change with business priorities and ensuring the technical architecture is correct. TSA is organized into towers covering specific areas of the Bank (e.g., PRA, M&B). Each tower includes a Tower Lead, Business Analysts, and Architects (Business, Solution, Data). Architects define technical architecture aligned to strategy, standards, and roadmaps, while Business Analysts ensure solutions deliver the right business outcomes.
You will support Tech Modernisation projects within the Central Services tower.
Key Responsibilities
• Capture, analyze, and document business and technical requirements, write user stories and acceptance criteria, and ensure alignment with roadmaps, sprints, and delivery plans.
• Oversee and support work prioritization across teams and stakeholders, collaborating with PMs, Tech Leads, and Team Managers.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives) and ensure tech teams remain aligned with product objectives and timelines.
• Produce high-quality outputs (from high-level specifications to detailed functional documentation) within BA standards.
• Develop business processes using BPMN 2.0, challenging existing processes with innovative thinking.
• Provide functional and technical expertise for detailed requirements documentation (e.g., process maps, use case specs, wireframes, logical data models).
• Manage complexity and change, understanding associated technical impacts.
• Facilitate workshops using a variety of business analysis methods.
• Support operating model development (current and target state) for projects/programmes.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
• Degree-level education and ISEB/BCS BA Diploma or IIBA certification (e.g., CBAP).
• Proven experience as a Business Analyst on technical/software development projects, ideally in financial or regulatory environments.
• Strong exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies and understanding of SDLC in Agile contexts.
• Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence for Agile project management and documentation.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence and challenge effectively.
• Experience with complex projects/programmes involving broad-based business change.
• Proactive problem-solving and independent judgment with strong influencing skills.
Desirable Experience
• Awareness of business architecture principles.
• Data management (data journeys, analysis, integration, migration).
• Supporting scaled Agile methodologies in Waterfall environments.
• Certifications in Agile, DevOps, or similar delivery methods.
• Understanding of Project Management (resource and time management).
