Role description
Title: Business Analyst (P&C Insurance / Reinsurance) Location: New York, NY (Onsite) Long Term Contract On C2C Job Description: Position Summary: We are seeking a Business Analyst with 10+ years of experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance, preferably with exposure to the Reinsurance domain. This is an onsite client-facing role that requires a strong understanding of insurance business processes, the ability to gather and document requirements, and collaborate effectively with business and technology teams. The ideal candidate should be a self-driven, detail-oriented professional who is comfortable working directly with client stakeholders and translating business needs into functional requirements. This is a hands-on delivery role suited for a junior to mid-level Business Analyst rather than a senior consulting position. Key Responsibilities • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand and document business requirements. • Facilitate requirement gathering sessions, workshops, and stakeholder interviews. • Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for process improvement. • Create and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), user stories, process flows, and use cases. • Support backlog refinement, prioritization, and sprint planning activities. • Collaborate with development, QA, and business teams throughout the project lifecycle. • Assist in defining acceptance criteria and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT). • Track requirements through implementation and ensure delivered solutions align with business expectations. • Participate in project meetings and provide regular status updates. • Support issue analysis, defect triage, and production validation as needed. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. • 3–6 years of Business Analyst experience. • Good understanding of Property & Casualty insurance business processes. • Exposure to Reinsurance concepts such as treaty or facultative business, underwriting, claims, accounting, or bordereaux is highly desirable. • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements. • Ability to create process flows, user stories, and functional specifications. • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Comfortable working directly with client stakeholders in an onsite environment. Preferred Qualifications • Experience working with reinsurance carriers or insurance technology projects. • Familiarity with policy administration, underwriting, claims, or finance systems within the P&C ecosystem. • Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or similar Agile tools. • Knowledge of SQL for basic data validation is a plus. • Exposure to API integrations or system integration projects is beneficial.
