Role description
Job Title: Business Analyst
Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid)
#W2-CONTRACT ROLE
Work Schedule:
• Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite per week (Wednesdays & Thursdays mandatory)
• Local candidates are strongly preferred
• Non-local candidates must be willing to relocate to Michigan at their own expense with no delays
Interview Process:
• 1st Round: Virtual interview
• 2nd Round: Mandatory onsite interview in Lansing, MI with leadership and business teams
• Candidates must provide 2 professional references
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate requirements gathering and business process review sessions
• Conduct process modeling, gap analysis, and requirements refinement
• Analyze and evaluate business systems, workflows, and user needs
• Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications
• Develop and manage user stories within Agile development projects
• Support strategic planning discussions and roadmap development with senior leadership
• Assist with solution evaluations, risk assessments, cost/benefit analysis, and ROI analysis
• Participate in project meetings and collaborate with stakeholders across multiple initiatives
• Support reporting, data warehousing, and business intelligence enhancement efforts
• Develop RFPs and support deployment of reporting tools and platforms
• Provide excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with DTMB policies and practices
Required Qualifications:
• 7+ years conducting business process reviews, requirements elicitation, documentation, and process modeling
• 5+ years developing and/or managing Agile user stories
• 2+ years working directly with senior management to facilitate strategic discussions and consensus-building
• 2+ years supporting statements of work (SOWs), contracts, or work agreements
• 2+ years supporting IT solution implementations for public use
• 1+ year working with programs governed by state and/or federal regulations
• Strong facilitation, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Experience with business process reengineering and Agile methodologies
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with gap fit analysis and program performance analytics
• Strong stakeholder relationship management skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and initiatives
• Experience supporting public-sector or government IT projects
