Role description
Position Overview:
The IT / CADD Business Analyst acts as a key intermediary connecting technology specialists, end users in design, and business leadership. This role focuses on ensuring that IT and CADD solutions, predominantly those based on Autodesk platforms, are strategically aligned with company objectives. The Analyst is charged with optimizing systems for efficiency, productivity, and data accuracy, while championing ongoing enhancements and creativity within engineering and design processes.
Major Functions:
Business Analysis:
β’ Assist stakeholders and process owners in evaluating, documenting, and improving operational workflows.
β’ Aid in staging and performing software trials and roll-outs for ERP/PLM and other business applications; offer guidance and support to primary users.
β’ Contribute to the creation and refinement of organizational information system strategies and promote standardization across business platforms.
Performance Goals:
β’ Deliver projects and system changes punctually, within financial parameters, and at a high standard, adhering to specified business objectives and technology architecture guidelines.
Relationship Management:
β’ Serve as the designated contact for inquiries regarding system modifications and reporting requirements.
β’ Provide recommendations and assistance for maximizing the use of Reporting and Business Intelligence tools.
Primary Duties:
Analysis Requirements:
β’ Work closely with teams across engineering, design, and business domains to pinpoint needs, document workflows, and resolve issues related to CADD and IT infrastructure.
Designing Solutions:
β’ Investigate and propose improvements to Autodesk products and associated systems, focusing on boosting productivity, enhancing automation, and ensuring compatibility with other platforms.
System Admin Support:
β’ Support IT/CADD administrators by helping configure systems, oversee license allocation, handle user accounts, monitor system health, and address technical concerns.
Workflow Optimization:
β’ Find and act on opportunities to automate and standardize data management and design processes, leveraging scripting, templates, and macros to promote efficiency and best practices.
Training & Implementation:
β’ Prepare user guides, conduct instructional sessions, and lead change management efforts to facilitate smooth implementation of new or upgraded systems and revised processes.
Facilitation & Communication:
β’ Bridge the gap between technical personnel and business teams by organizing discussions, clarifying requirements, and ensuring effective delivery of solutions.
Reporting & Data Management:
β’ Collect and interpret operational data from CADD environments to generate insights, monitor performance indicators, and aid leadership in strategic decisions.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelorβs degree in Management Information Systems or similar discipline, or relevant combination of education and experience.
Experience:
At least 5 years of hands-on experience with business applications and a strong grasp of business process fundamentals.
Technical Proficiencies:
β’ Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
β’ Experience with ERP/PLM systems
β’ Knowledge of Autodesk tools (Inventor, AutoCAD Mechanical, Vault, Fusion Manage)
β’ Familiarity with programming or automation (VBA, iLogic, C#, Python)
Other Competencies:
β’ Effective communicator in both oral and written forms
β’ Skilled at fostering collaborative relationships
β’ Adept at documenting technical and business requirements
