Role description
Contract Data Product Manager / Data Product Owner / Business Analyst
London (Hybrid)
6 Months
Immediate Start
You'll own 1β2 data products end-to-end, working directly with a ring-fenced engineering team to turn messy business processes into clean, usable data outputs.
Not a classic PM who's learned some data. Someone who grew up in data β knows SQL, understands schemas, can read a data model β but has matured into owning the product / business analyst side. Requirements, specs, stakeholder management, backlog.
The non-negotiables in plain terms:
β’ Can sit with a messy business process and translate it into a clean data model
β’ Writes specs that engineers can actually build from
β’ Comfortable challenging stakeholders without being difficult
β’ Ships things. Doesn't theorise.
What you'll be doing
β’ Taking ownership of 1β2 data products from discovery through to delivery
β’ Mapping complex business processes and translating them into logical data models
β’ Gathering requirements from stakeholders across the business and writing specs engineering teams can actually build from
β’ Managing backlogs and sprint planning with a dedicated engineering team
β’ Collaborating across data-producing and consuming teams to align definitions and validate outputs
What you'll need
β’ Strong SQL β you can read and interrogate data models, not just talk about them
β’ Experience designing logical or semantic layer data models
β’ A track record of building data products β APIs, data outputs, operational feeds β not just dashboards
β’ Excellent stakeholder management across technical and non-technical audiences
β’ The ability to map a complex, fragmented process and make it make sense
β’ Financial services or fintech experience preferred; lending or credit a plus
What the role isn't
It's not for someone who produces PowerPoints and facilitates workshops. The client values pragmatic execution, low ego, and people who get stuck in. If your default is to over-engineer or wait for perfect information, this probably isn't the right fit.
The detail
β’ 6-month contract
β’ London hybrid β some office presence required
β’ Immediate start (May 2026)
β’ Competitive day rate
