The role
The Business Data Analyst will play a key role in supporting TFP’s Data Strategy by collaborating with business, IT, and delivery partners to analyse and manage data projects and business partner requests. This role focuses on contributing to and delivering the data strategy programme of work, supporting strong data governance, data quality, and standards, and improving business processes through data-driven insights.
This role is well suited to professionals re-entering the workforce who bring prior experience in data, business analysis, or related fields and are looking to apply and refresh their skills in a supportive, delivery-focused environment.
The Business Data Analyst translates business data needs into clear requirements and helps ensure that data is accurate, well-managed, and used effectively to support decision-making, regulatory compliance, and business value.
The role works closely with stakeholders to define and analyse data requests, identify process improvements, and interpret data to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
Key accountabilities
Support and coordinate business data analysis for data-related projects, including platform integration, governance, and quality initiatives
Develop understanding of data mappings from multiple sources, including master and reference data
Analyse data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights
Elicit, document, and validate data requirements with business and IT stakeholders
Collaborate with SMEs and analysts (onshore and offshore) on data integration and mapping
Produce clear business requirements documentation and support UAT activities
Assess and recommend appropriate data sources and support data consolidation initiatives
Deliver workshops and presentations to technical and business audiences
Build and maintain strong working relationships across teams to support data-driven decisions
Skills & experience
Relevant IT, Business, Finance degree or equivalent practical experience
Prior experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or related roles (experience gained earlier in career is valued)
Working knowledge of tools such as SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or Python
Familiarity with data management concepts including Data Governance and Data Quality
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
Good business writing and documentation skills
Attention to detail and organisation
Ability to work independently and manage priorities
Motivation to refresh and develop skills in a modern data environment
Exposure to cloud, data warehouses, ETL, or visualisation tools is beneficial but not essential
Experience in insurance or financial services is helpful but not mandatory
