Job Title: Business Data Analyst β Data Insights
Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid β 3 days per week onsite)
Job Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Business Data Analyst who combines the skills of a User Experience professional, Business Analyst, and Data Analyst. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, analyze data, and provide actionable recommendations that drive strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, ensuring that analytics solutions are user-centered, secure, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements Gathering
β’ Elicit, document, and validate business requirements using interviews, workshops, and surveys.
β’ Analyze complex business problems and decompose them into clear, concise requirements.
β’ Create detailed requirement specifications, including use cases, user stories, and process flows.
Data Analysis
β’ Strong proficiency in SQL to analyze and interpret data.
β’ Analyze data from multiple sources to identify trends, patterns, data quality issues, and integration points.
β’ Prepare data-driven reports and presentations to communicate findings effectively.
β’ Collaborate with data modelers and engineers to ensure data integrity and quality.
β’ Understand data normalization, denormalization, and ETL processes.
Process Improvement
β’ Identify inefficiencies in business processes and recommend improvements.
β’ Assist in implementing process changes and measure their impact.
β’ Drive data governance by maintaining metadata in systems.
Project Management
β’ Support project managers in defining project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
β’ Track project progress and identify potential risks or issues.
β’ Facilitate communication between stakeholders and development teams.
Stakeholder Management
β’ Build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
β’ Manage stakeholder expectations and address concerns.
β’ Promote effective collaboration and communication among stakeholders.
Qualifications:
β’ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
β’ Proficiency with SQL, Excel, and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
β’ Experience with data modeling, ETL development, and data governance.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey solutions using diagrams and design patterns.
β’ Project management experience in Agile, Scrum, or Kanban environments.
β’ Previous experience as a Data Analyst or Business Analyst preferred.
β’ Relevant degree or certification in Data Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field recommended.
β’ Waste Management experience is a plus.
β’ High school diploma or GED required; bachelorβs degree preferred.
