Business Data Scientist

What is the position? This senior-level data science role bridges business needs and technical solutions across commercial operations, IT, and regulatory teams. The Business Data Scientist III will lead cross-functional initiatives to improve data systems, develop analytical tools, and support forecasting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance within the energy sector. What are the responsibilities? As a Business Data Scientist, you will: • Serve as a primary liaison between commercial teams, IT, and regulatory stakeholders to identify and implement system enhancements. • Lead end-to-end data and system-related projects, including scoping, testing, and post-launch evaluation. • Design and build data models and visualizations to support marketing, forecasting, and strategic decision-making. • Develop tools for commercial operations to analyze customer behavior and operational efficiency. • Ensure compliance and continuous improvement in proprietary systems and regulatory requirements. • Act as a subject matter expert in system processes and support the integration of business development needs into data infrastructure. What are the requirements? • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Engineering (Master’s preferred) • 6+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams with competing priorities • Deep knowledge of gas scheduling or contracting (pre-, during, or post-flow) • Strong skills in data analysis, relational databases, and statistical modeling • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables) and Power BI; knowledge of machine learning tools is a plus You would be really happy here if: • You can grasp complex subjects and effectively strategize how to achieve optimal results. • Roadblocks don’t intimidate you.
