Business Intelligence Developer

Power BI Developer Atlanta, GA (Hybrid) 5 month Contract (with potential extension) Overview We’re seeking a Power BI Developer to support a leading utility and energy client’s Business Insights team. This role involves designing and developing executive dashboards, creating complex DAX and M queries, and integrating data from multiple sources. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset, thrives in a collaborative environment, and enjoys translating business requirements into impactful visual insights. Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI • Gather and interpret business requirements from stakeholders across departments • Build data models and write DAX/M queries to support reporting needs • Optimize Power BI solutions for performance, scalability, and usability • Integrate data from multiple sources including Excel, SharePoint, SQL Server, and cloud platforms • Implement row-level security and manage workspace permissions • Troubleshoot data refresh or visualization issues • Document data models, business logic, and reporting processes Required Qualifications • Proven experience with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power Query • Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and M (Power Query Formula Language) • Experience creating dashboards and reports from scratch • Strong understanding of data modeling (star schema, normalization, etc.) • Excellent communication and collaboration skills • Strong attention to detail and adherence to reporting standards Preferred Qualifications • 1–3 years of hands-on Power BI development experience • Experience with SQL Server, Excel, and SharePoint as data sources • Familiarity with Power Automate or Power Apps • Background in business analysis or data analytics • Experience integrating dashboards into internal portals or web tools • Ability to explain data insights to non-technical audiences • Prior experience in utilities, energy, or infrastructure industries Bonus • Portfolio of past Power BI dashboards or reports • Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or similar credential • Experience working with GIS data or visual mapping in Power BI
