Title: Business Intelligence (BI) Developer
Location: Washington, D.C. Metro Area (Hybrid)
Overview
Weβre supporting a mission-driven consulting organization working with public-sector clients to solve complex problems through data. Theyβre seeking an experienced BI Developer to create actionable insights through Tableau dashboards, SQL, and clear communication.
This role primarily supports a federal-facing project, with opportunities to assist internal initiatives.
U.S. citizenship is required due to federal contract obligations.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Develop and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards and custom visualizations.
β’ Gather and interpret data requirements with cross-functional and client teams.
β’ Build data models and ETL workflows using SQL; clean and standardize large datasets.
β’ Create visualizations and analytical summaries to highlight trends.
β’ Troubleshoot dashboards and ensure data accuracy and performance.
β’ Stay current with Tableau best practices and new features.
Required Experience
β’ 5+ years Tableau development, including custom visualizations, LOD expressions, table calculations, data blending, and performance tuning.
β’ 5+ years SQL experience, including complex calculations, data cleaning/standardization, and query optimization.
β’ Experience with data warehouses (Redshift preferred) and ETL tools (dbt preferred).
β’ Experience integrating Tableau with APIs, cloud platforms, or external data sources.
β’ Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate insights clearly.
β’ Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
Preferred Experience
β’ Python or R for analytics.
β’ AWS and cloud data services.
β’ Predictive analytics or machine learning.
β’ Federal data or analytics project experience.
Soft Skills
β’ Strong verbal communication; able to present clearly to clients.
β’ Ability to explain technical concepts in plain language.
