Business Intelligence Developer

Position Title: MicroStrategy (MSTR) Developer Location: Buffalo, NY Anticipated Start Date: ASAP Please note this is the target date and is subject to change. Expected Duration: 6+ Months with possibilities for extension Job Type: Contract: 40 hrs/week Role Overview We are looking for a MicroStrategy (MSTR) Developer with strong experience in designing, developing, and supporting BI solutions. The resource will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver high-quality dashboards, reports, and data visualizations. While the organization has transitioned to the MicroStrategy Workstation tool, prior Workstation experience is not mandatory—experienced MSTR developers are expected to adapt within 1–2 weeks. Required Skills & Experience 1. MicroStrategy Development (5+ years) • Hands-on experience creating and maintaining schema objects, public objects, reports, dossiers, and dashboards. • Ability to design efficient and scalable BI solutions. • Familiarity with MicroStrategy Workstation is preferred but not required. 1. SQL and BI Reporting (5+ years) • Strong proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries for BI/reporting. • Experience using SQL within BI tools such as MicroStrategy, Cognos, Tableau, or Power BI. 1. Database Experience (5+ years) • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following: Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, Google BigQuery, or similar platforms. 1. Business Interaction (3+ years) • Proven experience working directly with business users to gather requirements, discuss issues, and resolve challenges. • Strong communication and analytical skills. 1. Ticketing Tools (2+ year) • Experience using ServiceNow or similar tools for incident, request, and change management. Optional / Preferred Skills 1. ETL Tools (3+ year) • Basic understanding of ETL concepts and exposure to tools like SSIS or Informatica. 1. Scheduling Tools (1+ year) • Experience with ActiveBatch or other enterprise job scheduling tools. Additional Notes • Candidates with solid MicroStrategy development experience who can quickly adapt to the Workstation environment. • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills are essential. • Preference for candidates who can work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
