Business Intelligence Developer

We're hiring a Senior Tableau Developer to lead enterprise dashboard development for a federal government agency. You'll own the full lifecycle from data optimization to deployment working with data engineers, architects, and stakeholders to drive federal IT modernization. This is hands-on technical work. Not a PMO role. Not a consultant role. You'll build dashboards, optimize SQL queries, troubleshoot performance issues, and mentor the analytics team. WHAT YOU'LL DO • Develop and enhance enterprise Tableau dashboards (LOD expressions, parameter actions, complex interactions) • Write and optimize SQL queries, especially PostgreSQL (performance tuning, indexing, complex joins) • Identify and resolve data quality issues in multi-source environments • Troubleshoot and optimize Tableau workbook performance • Translate loosely defined requirements into polished dashboards with minimal oversight • Design intuitive, story-driven dashboards that guide stakeholders to insights • Deliver through Agile/Scrum cycles with rapid iteration and continuous improvement • Mentor junior BI team members on advanced techniques and best practices WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR • 8+ years hands-on Tableau dashboard development and enterprise • BIStrong SQL proficiency (PostgreSQL a plus) • Advanced Tableau features (LOD, parameter actions, relationships, custom viz) • Data quality troubleshooting experience • Agile/Scrum delivery experience • Ability to work on-site in Woodlawn, MD, 5 days per week • Public trust clearance eligibility • Bachelor's + 7 years OR Master's + 5 years OR 13+ years equivalent Nice to Have • Tableau certification (Desktop Specialist or Server Admin) • Snowflake or cloud data warehouse experience • NoSQL/MongoDB experience • Government or federal IT background • Federal contracting or cleared contractor experience
