About the role We’re looking for a curious, analytical and service‑focused Business Systems Support Analyst to join our Technology team on a 12 month fixed term contract. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring our core business systems run smoothly, supporting colleagues across the organisation to use applications effectively and confidently. You’ll be responsible for resolving system and application issues, configuring systems to meet business needs, supporting software changes, and helping maintain the overall health and performance of our business applications. Working closely with business users, colleagues in Technology, and external suppliers, you’ll help ensure our systems continue to support the organisation efficiently and reliably. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, working directly with users, and developing their technical skills in a collaborative environment. What you’ll be doing • Provide responsive and effective support for business systems and applications • Resolve incidents and issues, identifying root causes and preventing re‑occurrence • Advise colleagues on best practice use of systems and applications • Configure applications to meet user requirements, ensuring changes are tested and fit for purpose • Support the delivery of software changes and upgrades, including testing and validation • Monitor system performance and interfaces, taking corrective action when required • Contribute to the ongoing health, stability and availability of live systems • Work closely with business users to identify opportunities to improve processes • Collaborate with colleagues across Technology and the wider business About you You’ll bring a genuine interest in business systems and technology, along with a proactive, customer‑focused approach. We’re particularly interested in people who can demonstrate: Experience and knowledge • Experience supporting and configuring software applications • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills • Understanding of business systems and processes (e.g. Finance or HR) • Experience supporting platforms such as Finance or HR systems, Jira/Confluence, Microsoft products (including PowerApps and Power BI), or bespoke applications • Awareness of cloud environments such as AWS or Azure • Working knowledge of SQL, with the ability to run queries and investigate data issues • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development Skills and behaviours • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders • Strong organisation and time‑management skills • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure • A supportive and approachable style when working with colleagues • Strong stakeholder management and teamwork skills • Enjoy working collaboratively and directly with business users Who We Are: IOP Publishing is a society-owned scientific publisher, providing impact, recognition and value for the scientific community.
