Role description
ESC has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to support a robotics-focused procurement and supply chain operations team in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment in North Reading, MA. This 8-month contract role is ideal for a detail-oriented and organized professional who enjoys working across procurement, vendor management, and new product introduction activities. The Buyer will play a key role in supporting sourcing strategies, managing purchase orders, and enabling successful product launches through strong cross-functional collaboration.
Job Description:
Procurement Operations & Purchase Order Management (50%)
• Create, manage, and maintain purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in pricing, quantities, and delivery timelines
• Update and maintain supplier pricing, lead times, and product data within internal systems
• Track supplier deliveries and gather commit dates to support operational planning
• Resolve discrepancies related to incoming shipments, invoicing, and order fulfillment
• Support procurement activities for new product introductions and ongoing operations
Vendor Management & Coordination (30%)
• Assist with onboarding new vendors, including system setup and documentation
• Train suppliers on procurement processes, tools, and portal systems
• Serve as a point of contact for vendor-related inquiries and issue resolution
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Partner with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and supply chain to support program needs
Data Management, Reporting & Process Improvement (20%)
• Maintain accurate procurement data and product catalog information across systems
• Generate and distribute team metrics and performance reports
• Support automation initiatives, dashboard creation, and process improvement efforts
• Assist with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the buying function
Must Have Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field
• 1+ years of experience in procurement, buying, or supply chain operations within a high-volume environment
• Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) or product launch activities
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle EBS or SAP
• Basic understanding of supply chain processes and procurement workflows
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have Qualifications:
• Experience in manufacturing, robotics, or technology-driven supply chain environments
• Familiarity with data management systems or databases (e.g., Oracle, Agile, Kinaxis)
• Basic SQL knowledge or experience working with data tools
• Experience with automation, reporting, or dashboard creation
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate ambiguity
