Role description
ESC has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to support a robotics-focused procurement and supply chain operations team in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment in North Reading, MA. This 8-month contract role is ideal for a detail-oriented and organized professional who enjoys working across procurement, vendor management, and new product introduction activities. The Buyer will play a key role in supporting sourcing strategies, managing purchase orders, and enabling successful product launches through strong cross-functional collaboration.
Job Description:
Procurement Operations & Purchase Order Management (50%)
β’ Create, manage, and maintain purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in pricing, quantities, and delivery timelines
β’ Update and maintain supplier pricing, lead times, and product data within internal systems
β’ Track supplier deliveries and gather commit dates to support operational planning
β’ Resolve discrepancies related to incoming shipments, invoicing, and order fulfillment
β’ Support procurement activities for new product introductions and ongoing operations
Vendor Management & Coordination (30%)
β’ Assist with onboarding new vendors, including system setup and documentation
β’ Train suppliers on procurement processes, tools, and portal systems
β’ Serve as a point of contact for vendor-related inquiries and issue resolution
β’ Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
β’ Partner with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and supply chain to support program needs
Data Management, Reporting & Process Improvement (20%)
β’ Maintain accurate procurement data and product catalog information across systems
β’ Generate and distribute team metrics and performance reports
β’ Support automation initiatives, dashboard creation, and process improvement efforts
β’ Assist with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the buying function
Must Have Qualifications:
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field
β’ 1+ years of experience in procurement, buying, or supply chain operations within a high-volume environment
β’ Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) or product launch activities
β’ Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
β’ Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle EBS or SAP
β’ Basic understanding of supply chain processes and procurement workflows
β’ Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
β’ Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have Qualifications:
β’ Experience in manufacturing, robotics, or technology-driven supply chain environments
β’ Familiarity with data management systems or databases (e.g., Oracle, Agile, Kinaxis)
β’ Basic SQL knowledge or experience working with data tools
β’ Experience with automation, reporting, or dashboard creation
β’ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate ambiguity
